You wish to join a club and obtain a parasport permit – for leisure or competitive practice – like the 32 356+ members of the FFH (Parasport French Federation) but you do not know how to do so. Whether it is a parasport permit in cycling or in wheelchair rugby, the process is the same. PlayMoovin’ will give the cost of a permit as well as explain how to get one.
What are the different parasport permits?
First, here is an overview of the different types of parasport permits and their respective cost.
The institution permit for a parasport club
The institution permit covers all the sportspeople in a parasport club in the leisure category. Mind that it does not apply to local, regional or national competitions or championships at all. You will find below a chart which presents the cost of this permit depending on the number of members.
| Number of members | Price in euros |
| From 1 to 20 | 20€ |
| From 21 to 40 | 17€ |
| From 41 to 60 | 15€ |
| From 61 to 80 | 12€ |
| From 81 and up | 10€ |
The leisure parasport permit
A leisure parasport permit costs 30€. It allows to practice every type of sport in an affiliated association:
- Wheelchair rugby;
- Parasport swimming;
- Etc.
With this type of permit, you can take part in non-official competitions.
Do you wish to participate in a championship? No worries: you can turn your leisure permit into a competition permit in the course of the year.
The parasport affiliation in competitions
It allows to participate in sport championships. With that said, it is also usable for a leisure parasport practice.
The price of a parasport competition permit of this type is of 30€ for people aged 20 or less and of 68€ for people aged 20 and more.
Pass’Sport permit
It is particularly interesting for the practice of a sport over the course of a few days. Its length can go from 3 to 10 days. It is the permit which covers all of the volunteers during a parasport event.
The supervisor permit
It is directed towards administrators, referees, volunteers and caregivers. It is free if the person getting it already has a French parasport federation permit. It also allows for a leisure sport practice in any discipline. The supervisor permit costs 30€.
Parasport activities are supervised in a specific way. Since the 1st of January 2021 and according to the L.212-1 of the Sport Code, the parasport federation does a good-repute check for the supervising volunteers and the managers of sport societies. It is about automatically verifying if the person in charge of the situations we talked about above was not the subject of a definitive conviction for an offence or a crime.
Digital permit
This type of permit is exclusively used for eSport practice. You probably wonder what it is. These are simply video game competitions and even though they are not strictly speaking a physical activity, they stimulate cognitive and perceptive capabilities. The understanding of the stakes and the strategies is at the centre of this practice.
A digital licence can be directly asked to the French Parasport Federation (FFH). It costs 30€.
If you want to change what parasport club you practice in, you must fill a form to ask for a transfer on the FFH website.
How to get a parasport permit?
Getting the permit itself
The club you chose records your permit online. Once this is done, the director must give you a code to allow you access to your member profile.
If you forget your codes, there is no need to worry: all you have to do is to click on “Find my login details” on the website.
If there is any error regarding your identity information, you need to contact the person in charge of affiliation with the following email address: licences@handisport.org.
Finally, know that you can obtain a dematerialised permit and keep it on your smartphone. To do so, just need to download it on your phone.
The unavoidable medical certificate
In order to obtain a parasport licence, you need a medical certificate which is less than a year old and it must indicate:
- The discipline you chose;
- That there are no contraindications to the practice of the sport you chose;
- The name of the doctor who gave you the certificate.
The certificate must be naturally signed and dated by the doctor.
If you practice several sports, the medical certificate must mention it.
For people suffering from a visual deficiency, a ophthalmological non-contraindication certificate is mandatory for the first affiliation. When the person is suffering from an evolving disease, they must renew the certificate every year.
A parasport permit can also be given to people who are partially deaf (at least a 55dB loss in one ear).
Finally, some sports require compulsory references for competitions. For instance, people who practice weightlifting in the parasport category must have had an ECG that dates from less than 3 months ago if they want to take part in a national competition.
The insurance for parasport practice
A club member must be able to benefit from a public liability insurance. It guarantees at the very least the practice of a sport for leisure purposes whether the person is in a sport wheelchair or not.
The French Parasport federation counts more than 1350 clubs and 539 associations in France. There is a great variety of sports to be chosen. So whether you want to practice wheelchair tennis, para badminton or any other sport proposed by the federation, do not hesitate to turn to sport clubs for more information.
