Above all, PlayMoovin’ is about a group of people with shared values and a desire to change the way people view disability.
A sad fact about people with disabilities: 90% of people with reduced mobility, including around 240,000 children in France, have no access to sports activities, deterred by the high cost of a sports wheelchair (up to €6,000) and the lack of suitable facilities (source: OCIRP). This is despite the fact that integrating children with disabilities into a mixed group is known to enhance their motor and psychomotor development, thus helping them become independent members of society.
The challenge associated with this sports wheelchair: fully aware of this situation, PlayMoovin’ set out to:
- Design a disability-friendly sports wheelchair;
- Help to prevent the isolation of PRMs (People with Reduced Mobility);
- Make sport accessible to all wheelchair users, especially children, as stipulated in the 2005 Disability Act;
- Promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in businesses, sports clubs and associations.
The solution: design a sports wheelchair. The fruit of 8 years of research and 1 year of industrial development, PlayMoovin’ has developed a safe, fun and affordable plastic sports wheelchair (up to 6 times cheaper than the cost of a standard sports wheelchair).
This innovation both revolutionises the possibility of every person being able to participate in a sports activity and, above, helps to raise awareness of disability issues.
FreeMoovin’ is the perfect multisport wheelchair for all awareness-raising associations and clubs seeking to introduce people to wheelchair sports.
