Raise awareness of disabilities

In the framework of the fight against discriminations, the act of 6th august 2012 forbids all discriminations related to disabled people.

However, and even with this law, discriminatory acts did not stop. 22.8% of disabled people say they suffer from it in their daily lives.

It is then more than time to change people’s minds, even if it not that simple.

So how do we explain the difficulties related to disabilities and raise awareness of disabilities to able-bodied people?

Sport is one of the most indicative means to impact people. The idea behind our thinking is to get to experience the movement restrictions which persons with reduced mobility suffer from, especially in the case of a motor disability.

It is with that objective in mind that we created Playmoovin’.

Playmoovin’s mission: get a grasp of disability through sport practice

Playmoovin’ revolutionises sport practice for disabled people. In 2019, company has indeed launched its first sport wheelchair which is adapted to children: – from toddlers to high-schoolers – the Kidsmoovin’.

This colourful wheelchair is both safe and sturdy.

Even if it is tailor-made for the inclusion of a person with a motor disability, it is also used for the opposite reason: to put able-bodied in the same situation as disabled children.

Organising games to raise awareness of disabilities serves three main objectives:

– have the young people participating drop the penny

– make them understand that disabilities are also synonymous to performance

– to change their perspective on the difficulties caused by the inability to move

Playmoovin’ also sells the Freemoovin’ since 2022 to be able to do these playful and positive activities with adults.

Set up a parasport organisation project

Playmoovin’ wheelchairs are the ideal sport equipment to propose parasport activities to able-bodied. Here are a few examples of activities:

  • Wheelchair rugby

  • Motor courses

  • Wheelchair tennis

  • And more

These awareness days – which are organised by appropriate associations – are organised in a playful framework. They also allow the participants to:

  • Understand the difficulties related to disabilities

  • Free their speech when confronted to disabilities

  • Consider the disabled sportsperson as a fully-fledged athlete

These friendly events are for everyone to enjoy:

  • Sport clubs

  • Elementary, middle or high schools

  • Activity centres

  • Companies

  • Etc
