Today, we focus on this day devoted to inclusion.<\/p>\n<h2>2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities: what is it exactly?<\/h2>\n<h3>The 3<sup>rd<\/sup> of December: a date for a more inclusive and united society<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>International Day of Persons with Disabilities<\/strong> was created by the UN in 1992 with two objectives in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raising awareness of disabilities among the public;<\/li>\n<li>Support the rights of people suffering from disabilities and of the people helping them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The United Nations estimates that 1 billion people suffer from a disability across the world. This means 80 million people suffer from a disability in Europe and it represents 14.1% of the French population. Many of these people still face daily challenges and struggle to access their rights.<\/p>\n<p>If you want more information, do not hesitate to read our article on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playmoovin.com\/en\/a-closer-look-at-figures-regarding-disabilities-in-france\/\">figures related to disabilities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Laws to protect people suffering from a disability: key dates<\/h3>\n<p>Significant progress was made regarding the recognition and the care of disabilities in France, in great part thanks to a series of major laws being:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The one voted on the 30<sup>th<\/sup> of June 1975 marks the official acknowledgement of the State\u2019s duty to help people suffering from disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>The one voted on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> of July 1987 which favours the integration of people with disabilities in the professional world.<\/li>\n<li>The one voted in 2002 which explains the roles and duties of people partaking in medical and social action.<\/li>\n<li>The law for the promotion of the equality of rights and chances was voted on the 11<sup>th<\/sup> of February 2005. It reinforced the integration of people suffering from disabilities in school and at work. It guarantees them the access to fundamental rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Which actions to carry out for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 2023?<\/h2>\n<h3>The 2023\u2019 edition\u2019s theme<\/h3>\n<p>Let\u2019s first talk more about the theme that was chosen by the UNESCO for <strong>this edition<\/strong>. It is stated as follows: <em>\u201cunited in the objective to save and realise sustainable development objectives for, with and by people suffering from disabilities\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do you want to make the most of this official date to organise an awareness activity within your structure?
