This last figure underlines of course what remains to be done in terms of <strong>disabilities awareness<\/strong>. If you want to <strong>organise an activity to raise awareness of disabilities<\/strong>, it is very much possible to put one or several workshops in place to impact as many people as possible no matter the audience. In this article, we will look back on several experiences in which PlayMoovin\u2019 has taken part to help you organise an activity to raise awareness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How to organise this kind of event?<\/h2>\n<p>At PlayMoovin\u2019, we think that sport is an excellent conveyor to raise awareness of disabilities among people. Indeed, what is better than to be in the place of a <strong>person with reduced mobility<\/strong> to understand what they are going through daily?<\/p>\n<p>It is why we have made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playmoovin.com\/en\/\">wheelchair to raise awareness of disabilities<\/a>: the Freemoovin\u2019. It is a <strong>light and safe sport wheelchair<\/strong>. It allows for the practice of team sports such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>wheelchair basketball;<\/li>\n<li>wheelchair rugby;<\/li>\n<li>wheelchair handball;<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It can also be used for individual motor activities such as athletics or wheelchair tennis for example.<\/p>\n<p>To ease the organisation process of your <strong>disability awareness workshop<\/strong>, we have put in place a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playmoovin.com\/en\/renting-a-sport-wheelchair\/\">renting service<\/a>. You can call us if you want to know more about it. Below, you can find a wide variety of possible activities with different types of audiences.<\/p>\n<h2>Workshop to raise awareness of disabilities within companies<\/h2>\n<p>In 2005, the \u00ab <a href=\"https:\/\/handicap.gouv.fr\/la-loi-du-11-fevrier-2005-pour-legalite-des-droits-et-des-chances#:~:text=Accessibilit%C3%A9%20Aides%20financi%C3%A8res-,La%20loi%20du%2011%20f%C3%A9vrier%202005%20pour%20l'%C3%A9galit%C3%A9%20des,la%20classification%20internationale%20du%20handicap.\">loi sur le handicap<\/a>&nbsp;\u00bb (disability act) announced equal opportunities for everyone. If in theory the law insisted on the absence of discriminations towards disabled workers, the acts speak for themselves. In reality, almost 25% of people suffering from disabilities say they are still being mocked because of their disability.<\/p>\n<p>Many CEOs are aware of this problem and some organise awareness workshops with their employees. For instance, it happened in our premises in C\u00e9bazat. Some employees got acquainted to wheelchair rugby in a friendly environment.<\/p>\n<h2>Raising awareness of disabilities in activity centres<\/h2>\n<p>Children are also rarely confronted to disabilities in their daily life. If you want to change how they view disabilities, why not organising an <strong>activity to raise awareness of it<\/strong>? It is a good occasion to propose something different. PlayMoovin\u2019 wheelchairs already found success among children of multiple age groups.<\/p>\n<p>In Aubi\u00e8re for example, the Handi\u2019school association and the service Enfance et Jeunesse (youth and childhood department) allowed champions-to-be children to play wheelchair rugby.<\/p>\n<p>In the framework of the JHBC (Jeunesse Handi Ballons Chavelotaise) recreational Wednesdays, other children had the occasion to put their motor abilities to the test during <strong>disability awareness animations<\/strong>. All these wheelchair activities are a great occasion for them to explore their abilities but also to change their perspective and to understand disables people a little better.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Another example in secondary high school<\/h2>\n<p>If awareness activities can be organised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playmoovin.com\/en\/raising-awareness-of-disabilities-in-primary-school\/\">in schools<\/a>, they are also doable in secondary high schools. Here is another example with a ninth-grade class from the Peiresc de Toulon secondary high school. Every Tuesday, students learn to play wheelchair rugby. The activities take place within a disability awareness program in collaboration with RFCschool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organising an activity to raise awareness of disabilities<\/strong> is an effective way to allow everyone to change the way they view people with reduced mobility.
